THE PLAN
Since the closure, we know the space has been deeply missed. In this new chapter, our focus is on creating a nonprofit that serves as a community hub—a welcoming haven for those who need it most, especially during these challenging times.
The Haven Coffee is envisioned as a vibrant, welcoming space for everyone, with a special focus on fostering community for artists in Philadelphia. By day, it will serve as a coffee shop, providing an affordable, inclusive place for people to relax, connect, and share space—regardless of income. We want this space to be accessible to all.

Beyond coffee, The Haven will transform into a dynamic, multipurpose venue—hosting music events, poetry nights, art gatherings, and shows. At its core, The Haven is a hub for Philadelphia’s queer community and a gathering space for anyone who loves art, culture, and inclusivity.
The goal is to create a space that serves and uplifts local artists, and keeps art and connection accessible to all.

The Haven will also incorporate a donation-based thrift model, similar to Goodwill, where people can drop off unwanted items. These will be cleaned and sold at affordable prices, ensuring the everyone has has access to low-cost goods. Additionally, we’ll feature a retail space dedicated to local artists, providing them with affordable access to selling their work and gaining exposure—something that’s hard to come by in smaller, already-crowded venues.
By combining affordable coffee, donated goods, and local art sales, The Haven will have multiple sources of income to support its mission of staying open long-term and serving those that need this space and in person connection.

We’re seeking initial funding to cover the costs of registering and fully establishing our nonprofit. Once that’s complete, we’ll be able to move forward with applying for grants and fundraising to support ongoing expenses, such as the facility lease. If you’re unable to contribute financially, we’re also accepting donations of clothes, furniture, music or sound equipment, or any other secondhand items that can be used or sold in the space. Your support, in any form, will help us bring this vision to life.
